Was by error first published here today (August 11) here in ATR, under the title "einhard Binder-Krieglstein, Österreichisches [republikanisches] Adelsrecht 1868-1918/19/Austrian republican Nobility Law, Frankfurt (Peter Lang), 2000, no more copy left for sale."
Please correct !

Pages 243-265 includes a list of those, who have been convicted in criminal cases and have herewith lost their nobility ("Entsetzung" des Adels). Entsetzung may have to be translated by "deprivation".

No name of a person of princely rank/title included.

Of comital rank yes !

Indirectly however one's own family (Gudenus). Where available own should indicate father and mother 's family names. Page 244.

That would be here :
August Count Bellegarde - Julie baroness Gudenus. Their mariage took place : Vienna, State Archives, Kriegsarchiv, Feldsuperiorat, XI-fol. 68, 1821 October 29, August : Grand-master of the Court of Vienna, fieldmarshal (in those days one of the highest ranking personalities of the Court of Vienna.
Son : Heinrich, our criminal, was Priest and Knight of the Order of Malta, for him see : Siebmacher, Styria, 228, XVII, dates only partly known. Maybe he should even not have the right to figure in the Bellegarde genealogy.

But being member of a Savoy family one may put the question : how far could he be deprived ? Bellegarde had committed : fraud. May we here someday will read an article titled Sovereign Order of Malta and convicted fraudsters/swindlers ?

No murderer, therefore no hanging!

Rape /Schändung: YES - but not of a man by a woman. No luck for the readers.

Before 1868 hanging YES (of a Count Chorinsky).

Thank you for reviving the topic, it is always interesting to discover how authorites reacted when confronted to such cases.
