In English Alois is Aloysius usually in reference to Saint Aloysius Gonzaga.

The usual saint for Louis is the great French Crusader King Louis IX.

I'll remember that in regard to many of the Princes of Liechtenstein who bear this name.

"Louis" descends from the name Ludovicus,
the German form is Ludwig...

Maria Ludovica is still remembered in Parma.

Sorry they are sticking with only giving them three names,
but that first choice is spot-on...

I had thought at first that he was named after this man

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Louis_of_Battenberg

But rather it was this man

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Mountbatten,_1st_Earl_Mountbatten_of_Burma

When I think of him I think of him as "Dickie". When he was born in 1900 his nickname was going to be Nicky but because the Tsar of Russia was Nicky (Nicholas II) it was changed to Dickie.
