In English Alois is Aloysius usually in reference to Saint Aloysius Gonzaga.

The usual saint for Louis is the great French Crusader King Louis IX.

I had thought at first that he was named after this man

But rather it was this man

When I think of him I think of him as "Dickie". When he was born in 1900 his nickname was going to be Nicky but because the Tsar of Russia was Nicky (Nicholas II) it was changed to Dickie.
