Spain is a constitutional monarchy, in which case the king committed a no-no when he stuck his nose into the debate. There again, the British queen set a bad example when she did the same thing during the first Scottish independence referendum debate. It seems that the Catalans would rather that their country is a republic and won't invite the king to be their HOS.

In the event that Nicola Sturgeon unilaterally declares independence from the United Kingdom on behalf of Scotland, I will be one of the many kilt-adorned hysterically cheering throng outside the Scottish parliament (Pàrlamaid na h-Alba). One lives in hope.

The fragile federation known as Belgium is probably shaking in it's boots right now.

Visca la República de Catalunya!

Long beò Poblachd na h-Alba!

It is now time for the direct intervention of the European Union. The
EuroCorps must occupy Spain and declare martial law--until such time
as a negotiated settlement is agreed upon.

Personally I am waiting for when Germany again fragments itself into a myriad of Counties, Duchies,Grand Duchies, Principalities, Bishoprics and Kingdoms.

I also have it on good authority that The Scilly Isles are to break away from the U.K. and that there is a possibility too that we shall once again see Moresnet and perhaps the Grand Duchy of Fenwick.

So long as they understand that God forbids them to dissent from
the King's being their HoS all will be well!

It would appear Mr. Epstein, that they have taken no notice of you whatsoever and declared the region a republic. The place was once a Principality I believe - so, at the very least, they could have found a Catalonian to fulfill this role.

They may as well have declared it to be on Mars.

A county,I think...eventually absorbed into the Crown of Aragon.

You have as much attachment to reality as Fake President Drumpf. One wonders if he lives in the same Cloud Cuckoo Land as you, or does he have his own special world? On the bright side, I don't think that you'll be impeached, as he will. There again, how would one impeach Comrade Epstein? Who in this forum would deliver the Articles of Impeachment? It isn't that we don't love you, just that you're weird.

On a related note, it is looking less and less likely that the Queen will have to debase herself (and by extension the nation) by meeting Drumpf and...ugh!... touching him.
