Spain is a constitutional monarchy, in which case the king committed a no-no when he stuck his nose into the debate. There again, the British queen set a bad example when she did the same thing during the first Scottish independence referendum debate. It seems that the Catalans would rather that their country is a republic and won't invite the king to be their HOS.
In the event that Nicola Sturgeon unilaterally declares independence from the United Kingdom on behalf of Scotland, I will be one of the many kilt-adorned hysterically cheering throng outside the Scottish parliament (Pàrlamaid na h-Alba). One lives in hope.
The fragile federation known as Belgium is probably shaking in it's boots right now.
