Useful information from the Cheshire journals
http://iccheshireonline.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/chesterchronicle/tm_objectid=14706155%26method=full%26siteid=50020%26headline=it%2ds%2dthe%2dwedding%2dof%2dthe%2dcentury%2d-name_page.html

The wedding is to take place at Chester Cathedral.

from which I quote:

"After the service guests will return to the Grosvenor family
residence at Eaton Hall for a spectacular party.

The announcement of the couple's engagement was made in March.

Lady Tamara studied theology at Newcastle University and is known to
enjoy hunting. She was previously listed at number 10 in Tatler's
Little Black Book of Eligible Dates.

Mr van Cutsem, 30, works in finance in the City and is a childhood
friend of the young princes - Prince William could be best man. His
father Hugh van Cutsem and mother Emilie, of Hilborough, Norfolk are
good friends of the Prince of Wales."

The same journal (diff article) claims that Prince William is likely
to be best man for his old friend Edward van Cutsem (who was a pageboy
back in 1981, and who is one of Prince Charles's godsons).

"Lady Tamara, 24, and her sister Lady Edwina are friends with the
princes, who attended Tamara's 21st birthday bash at Eaton Hall.

Little is known about the rarely photographed Lady Tamara, but during
a Chronicle interview with the Duke and Duchess of Westminster in
December 2001 it became clear she was close to her younger sister
Edwina.

At the time Lady Tamara was studying theology at Newcastle University
and Lady Edwina was reading criminology and sociology at Northumbria
University."

The article also claims that Charles and Diana spent their wedding
night at the van Cutsem's estate (weren't they then renting a royal
estate or a house on a royal estate)?

And in news about the Duke of Westminster:

"The Duke of Westminster, who has lost a lot of weight during the past
year, is looking at the peak of fitness in readiness to give his
daughter away. The duke, who still chain-smokes, contracted a nasty
leg infection last summer which put him in hospital for a few days.
Since then he is said to have cut his alcohol intake and led a
healthier lifestyle. After the wedding he is due to fly to Iraq in his
capacity as Major General of the Territorial Army."

AFAIK he had aged considerably in photographs over the last five to
seven years.

The information was found via the Royal News page
(www.etoile.co.uk/Rnews.html) which has been revamped considerably in
the last few months to show stories by monarchy, and by latest
stories.

Another article claims that Lady Tamara (b. 1979) and Ed van Cutsem
(b. 1974?) are childhood friends. Isn't five years rather a big
difference for childhood friends, even though their parents knew each
other?

Ok, question about Emilie van Cutsem, nee Quarles van Ufford.

How is she related to Leopold Quarles van Ufford (Dutch consul in the
western USA during the Second World War) or to Paul Quarles van Ufford
(who apparently lives in Senegal and works for UNICEF)? Although the
family is of the Dutch aristocracy, they are descended from a Norfolk
man John Quarles (presumably from Ufford) who emigrated to the Low
Countries centuries back.

The article is incorrect. VC is 31. He was born 6 June 1973.

The wedding night was supposedly spent at Broadlands. The van Cutsems rented
Anmer Hall at Sandringham until a few years back. But, since the Kents lived
at Anmer Hall for a period, I'm not sure when the vCs moved in.

How so? He keeps getting labelled a childhood pal of Will & Harry and
they're even younger than she.

Have you checked out Leo's site? http://www.genealogics.org/ It definitely
has Emilie listed. I'm not sure about the other two ppl.

I have found the descent of Emilie Quarles van Ufford and her two
sisters (both of whom married into the nobility - a Tuyll van
Seeroskeren baron and his cousin)
http://worldroots.com/brigitte/royal/crommelin/louisvanufforddesc1796.htm

Considering this information, Emilie van Cutsem cannot be a close
relative of the other Quarles van Uffords whom I mentioned (many of
whom are distinguished in academia or have moved into the diplomatic
service, medicine, etc).

Father - Pieter Quarles van Ufford (b. 1914)
Grandfather - Pierre Nicolas Quarles van Ufford (1886-1969)
Great-grandgather - Pieter Quarles van Ufford (1860-1932)
Great-great-grandfather - Pierre Nicolas Quarles van Ufford
(1825-1901)
Great-great-great-grandfather - Louis Jacques Quarles van Ufford
(1796-1872)

Leopold Quarles van Ufford (b. 1921) and his descendants may be found

From the Sunday Telegraph, 10 Oct, 2004:-
*Separate pews for Charles and Camilla*

CAMILLA PARKER BOWLES has been invited, along with the Prince of Wales,
to the wedding next month of Lady Tamara Grosvenor, the Duke of
Westminster's daughter, to Edward van Cutsem at Chester Cathedral. She
has, however, been told tat she will not be permitted to sit with
Prince Charles and will have to arrive separately.

'It may provoke comment on the day, but Her Majesty will also be
attending and she is a stickler for protocol,' a Buckingham Palace
courtier tells Mandrake. 'A pew will be set aside for the members of
the Royal Family attending, and it will be inappropriate for Mrs Parker
Bowles to sit beside Prince Charles since she has no official standing.
Even for Mrs Parker Bowles to arrive with the Prince at the event, in
the presence of the Queen, would be to confer rights and status upon
her that she simply does not have.'

At Clarence House, I am told that they are 'working' on the problem.
'It's not just about Chares and Camilla but also Edward and Tamara',
whispers my man. 'The last thing we want is t do anything that will
distract attention from the bride and groom on the day.'

I am told that Mrs Parker Bowles has accepted 'with equanimity' Her
Majesty's ruling on this sensitive matter, but she should perhaps
regard the fact tat she has been invited at all as a step forward.

There have been very few official occasions at which both she and the
Queen have been present. Among them were the West Minster abbey service
for the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation, a pop concert in
the garden of Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen's jubilee, and the
Queen Mother's funeral at Westminster Abbey.

If Prince Charles will have to keep his distance from Mrs Parker Bowles
at the wedding, it is likely that the bride's aunt, the Duchess of
Abercorn, will have to do the same with the Duke of Edinburgh. Eyebrows
were raised when the Duke's biographer Gyles Brandreth quoted Sacha
Abercorn talking about the 'highly-charged chemistry' that existed
between them.
