I have been wondering about this for some time. Is the author Mark
Girouard (a social and architectural historian) the same as the Mark
Girouard (b 1931) son of Richard Desire Girouard and his first wife
Lady Blanche de la Poer Beresford (d 1940), eldest daughter of the 6th
Marquess of Waterford? That would make Mark Girouard a first cousin of
the present (8th) Marquess of Waterford.

PS Does the youngest son of the 8th Marquess now have issue?

Yes (Debrett's People of Today, A&C Who's Who). His father, who died in 1989,
was the son of Col Sir Percy Girouard, KCMG, DSO, sometime governor of N.
Nigeria and the British East Africa Protectorates, and Mary, daughter of Hon Sir
Richard Solomon, GCMG, KCB, KCVO.

And on a related matter what is the name of Mark Girouard's only
daughter..... Debrett's People of Today doesn't even have a name. Is
she married?

And are the children of Mark's sister's Teresa, Lady James & Mrs (Mary)
Cresswell-Turner married?

I don't have those answers, because I have only Paul Theroff's files to
go by in that respect. He has only Mark and his two sisters listed as
children of Lady Blanche Beresford.

A Dorothy Girouard is mentioned on some websites; she might be his
wife.

Thanks, I'd missed the 2nd marriage & death of Mary Girouard.

If it of any interest I include her d-o-b 19 Mar 1938. Her elder sister
Teresa was born 31 July 1929.

Mark Girourd's father was first married to Beatrice Grosvenor, Killarney, in 1944 and it was annulled in 1945, I think I know why, but this was never written about!
