One of my periodic file revision postings,
after I learned from the death of the longtime Earl of Plymouth
that I had mistakenly left out Earldoms created in 1905.
This is a look at the recent history of the titles in my list of
senior titles in the UK peerages,and some more,and how many hands and
generations they have passed through in the present reign.
Peerages presently under disclaimer are omitted.
The oldest peer at the accession of Elizabeth II was the Earl of
Dunraven and Mount-Earl born in 1857(title extinct 2011),and the
oldest baronet Sir Lyonel Tollemache(born Jan 1854).
