1. What are the birth dates and marriage dates for the Hon. Mrs
Marten, born the only child of the last Lord Alington and his wife Lady
Mary Anna Sibell Ashley-Cooper, dau of the 9th Earl of Shaftesbury?
Mrs Marten married George Gosselin Marten alias Toby Marten and has
issue 1 son (who is married and has issue 2 sons and 1 dau, per a
message posted on ATR on Napier Marten's mother-in-law's demise
recently). Given the dates of the births of the children, I would
assume that Toby Marten and his wife married early 1950 or even
earlier. Their first child was born in December 1950.
Mrs Marten's parents Lord and Lady Alington married late 1928, and
her mother died 1936. So that would suggest to me that Mrs Marten was
born 1929 or 1930 (but probably not later than 1932).


2. Is the Charlotte Diana Marten (b. 1952) who is the second daughter
of the Hon Mrs Marten the same Charlotte Marten who married 1975 Oswald
Alexander Mosley (b. 1938), third son of Lady Mosley nee Hon. Diana
Mitford, and half-brother of the present Baron Ravensdale (once married
to Rosemary Salmond) and maternally half-brother of Lord Moyne?. The
couple have a son, and the dates do seem right.

The Hon. Mary Anne Sibell Elizabeth Sturt was born in London 12 Sept 1929.
She was christened in early October, the Duchess of York being among the
godparents.

Her marriage to Lieutenant-Commander George Gosselin Marten, RN, took place
at Holy Trinity Church, Brompton, 25 Nov 1949. He was an equerry to the
King, and the marriage was attended by King George VI, Queen Elizabeth,
Princess Margaret, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duchess of Kent,
Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone and Major-General the Earl of Athlone.

Yep, they are the same. The marriage took place at Witchampton parish church
10 May 1975
